The ‘Ahahui Lā‘au Lapa‘au (‘Ahahui) shall be operated for educational and cultural purposes. Its mission is to actively advance the study of lā‘au lapa‘au by accumulating and disseminating herbal knowledge and information on the endemic or naturalized plants of Hawai‘i for the improvement of health to individuals, families and communities.

To achieve this mission, the objectives of the ‘Ahahui are to: sustain, provide, and promote formal and informal education of lā‘au lapa‘au under the direction of Kahuna Lā‘au Lapa‘au Levon Ohai; encourage environmental conservation of endemic herbs and their use; network and co-operate with organizations and governmental bodies in the interest of expanding the knowledge and use of herbs; and cultivate communication amongst lā‘au lapa‘au practitioners, medical professionals and the community through publications, meetings, committees, and special events.
