Ke Ao Maoli

I want to talk about something that has bothered me for a long time. By no means am I trying to call anyone out or even diss them in anyway. I'm just sharing my point of view on things.

Over the years I've noticed a lot staking claim to be king or queen and calling these lands 'theirs'. I am not going to debate anyone's lineage. I don't feel that anyone should challenge another person on those facts for any other reason than to educate and share. My feelings for so many laying claim lies in the fact that without heirs being named, the position would go to vote by the people.

I think this is something we all need to think carefully about. Discussions range from when Hawaii is free will we go back to a monarchy and if so, to who? It's a very dangerous question. Almost all of us can trace our roots back to Ali'i, and as many know just from these boards, we are all related in some shape or fashion. When the time comes for us to answer this question are we ready to look at things not just by tradition, but also by the strength we want our nation to move forward with to continue to perpetuate a strong Hawaiian Kingdom?

Thanks for the use of your parking lot again,

Being on the Middle East forums alerts many nations of how the History of Hawaii affects the World Today.......

I've been going through so much muzzling from Henry Peters and his Bishop Estates investments, that I can't believe how this is happening to you too, with Steph!!!! It is so stupid. Money has made us sick and impoverished and people are dying. What gives--- Kaohi

hahaha...so funny how people still have comprehension problems.

I meant to say earlier though, but forgot. It never ceases to amaze me the knowledge that Tane shares.

Tane, I have to say, and I hope you don't mind, but I've been keeping some things that you say here on MW in a file. :) It's just that I use it when I have to "battle" people, you know the kind, the smart ones who aren't from ko HI p.a. & think they know more than Oiwi would & of whom you write about. So, thanks so much for sharing.

That's one thing that Amelia & the rest of us can agree on. hahaha

Kaohi, for your "free parking" here "not on subject but venting"....

Middle East forums can also be a way of tattletailing or miscommunicating a view belonging to one person such as Amelia Gora and not the whole for the common good. This is taking it way out of hand.

Investments and money plays no "personal" issue between me or anyone else you may be referring to. You are misconstruing discussion of the subject matter concerning this. This is taking it way out of hand.

What gives is too much energy which is not of good. We can either fight amongst ourselves out in the back road or some choose to fight their battle here for members of Maoliworld to see. For the most part everything has been a discussion here and that is what Maoliworld is for - with reason of etiquette and ethics. Uncle Tane speaks eloquently of what each brings to the table. It is unfortunate more than one has seen disrespect which Uncle Tane is emphasizing it is not the place for it. We can agree to disagree and yet still respect each other. We know each others point just sit with it angered or not and move forward to another discussion but this consistent "not letting sleeping dogs lie" only brings the dogs out to bark, scratch, itch, howl, nip and sometimes BITE. Let it lie down like putting our spears down makahiki style.

I guess for me it has started with placement of informing genealogy which I found to be questionable but it is my own opinion which can be backed by proof of evidence I have referred people to - main lines of ali'i. I'll say it once and once is enough said. But to go on and on and on and on is waste of energy and time for better things. But to note what is uncomfortable to people must be also a place to be sensitive, not be nit picking again and again and again...old story already we have moved on. Stop putting salt on the wounds so we can move forward already because it doesn't draw good here it pushes away what can be UNITY.

But for what it's worth, this is proof of why we can not have UNITY with disrespect, no common courtesy and integrity and dignity. And sitting back looking in on it I believe about 90% of members here are like "waht? when is this going to end?" For their greater good of "interest of being here" let's think of them to keep them here and be part of history in its making. That to me invites UNITY and not DIVISION. FOR UNITY WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL...it only takes a handful of missing links in the unity to have it all crumbling down if they want to be part of it yet push away people...THINK ABOUT IT PLEASE, SERIOUSLY THINK ABOUT IT.

I rest now knowing I have said my peace. I apologize to the members of Maoliworld for any frustration this has caused you. I would rather be picked on for I know where I stand for the greater good than for others to be picked on. For what was done to me in providing "my words to the Middle East forums was done without my permission and in my opinion confidentiality and privacy issues was a concern and done in malice. So it was done, probably can be corrected but probably will not as "her inherent right" to create things that are not there for the viewing. For If I was an infiltrator for po'e I'm sure I would have been told by members here other than Amelia Gora. But because I stood my ground to Amelia Gora she decided to take it to another level. This is her thinking which we can not change that is part of "who she is". She decides to carve a path for herself in what she does personally to people. What I don't want to see is she doing it to anyone else for their safety issue for it doesn't bring UNITY only division.

Can Maoliworld still provide mana'o and gifts? Sure we can, we just have to put up with each other and doing fairly. Where we battle is here and not out of our circle. If one can not do that, then to me THAT is an infiltrator...but then again that is my own opinion. Be this is history or not for the Middle East forums that is up for another discussion but who would want to discuss because of intimidation of being put out to slaughter or being misconstrued?

Warriors fight in the present circle not fight anywhere else, because to a warrior that is running to something or somewhere where the arena is not knowing what is happening is misinformation. We don't have safe havens of a City of Refuge to go to if we war here on Maoliworld.....BUT HEY SOMEONE CAN CREATE A CITY OF REFUGE GROUP and we can vent and heal in there...for me, I gotta laugh about it, better than getting angry. Takes a lot for me to cry because that is my warrior spirit of Naihe. We are all warriors inside we all fight for things we stand for. We can fight fairly even if it is just to get our point made clearly.

Bus out your violins everyone. Middle East Forum has no play here. Who the hell wants to know about them. Was never about money. It was about RESPECT, plain and simple. Seems like we all forgot about that, Thankyou Uncle Tane, Steph and etals, for pointing that out. But as I see here, its about choosing sides. As long as we got the stone age mentallity, may as well act like cavemen, so bus out the spears, get good ohia my way. The Kipuupuu warriors used them for their spears. And Steph I got your back as I am sure others do to. Warriors of old went to battle for the smallest to the largest of infractions, but to me being disrespectful constitutes a big infraction. No one puts dowm my ohana past, present or future. Thank you for your time.

What saddens me is Kalani is so talented with his ability to weave the English language and the text so that it becomes easier reading for our Makaainana to read and comprehend so that they too can begin to protect their families and children.

I will be back at work, however, I will check back each day in hopes we can keep this parking lot going. By the way this was staple for us 'da parking lot' during the early years of the 70s. Ikaika, also too created the parking lot during the years post 911 for those of us that didn't agree with Akaka and his deforming Bill. It's weird that the parkng lot exist on Maoli World. So much was discussed in parking lots, much more than the simple agenda's in the sponsored meetings. When I look back for those of us who dared differ to with Hawaiian Civic Club, politicians, admin of some entities, or someone seeking a job---we still kept in contact with our Na Kupunas.

I did make a copy and I also, read through as quickly as possible. So much needs to be exchanged so that the understanding passes through our psche (sp). So much work needs to happen, one last point I believe for DHHL lease holders it may just be too late. They were always for some odd reason kept out of the critical thinking process, but yet a few women were at cause to break away in the 70s, thus, the bloodquantum mess.

Sorry, one more last point. Pastor Kamanu, is not doing well. He is well loved among the Middle East and can share a lot, if you want to know the up dated relationships. His great grandfather fed dog to the missionaries. Kaohi

e Kaohi, thank you so much for your kind words. Just the fact that you acknowledge people on here for what they really are, is actually a gift. I'm glad MW has someone like you.

To Kalani and whom cares about the larger community.

I too have gotten frustrated in the past and have made mistakes with family/non. We are in critical times and must continue our agenda not Ken's or scums of the earth that prey on our weakest moments. I have learned through experience to not go there anymore. But, I must say this much--it was our own kind that denied us voice and access and participation in the process.

The Hawaiian men were/are terrible and nasty! What did we do, I went to college here and abroad and continued my education as an alternative to participating in the movement from the parking lot. Now we are back on a collective again, and the same things are happening. Oahu needs to go forward because our lives and our future are at stake.

What ever I say I try to back it up with evidence whether they are accurate, it takes a process and hard work. We must be critical of ourselves and others, however, allow the process of understanding and meaning to continue. I have not met Amelia, and I hope to someday--it is her partnership and research that are important for the well being of our people. Secrets begets untruth and that's how I am calling it.

As for our oral stories, I would rather our stories and connections be in the hands of our people told to and listened to by our people not from/by outsiders. Our bodies, minds, and souls means a lot to outsiders may it be a just a hobby, or game no matter what we are their target. Kaohi

Take care Kaohi

Re: Ken's or scums & not to go there. I've been avoiding all of that a lot. Not until I came unto MW did I see more negative things actually. It was all of those reasons I constantly tell Lana that I plan to just leave & go to one of two other countries of my choice, because I choose to just not deal with it. I know I shouldn't feel like that, but I feel like that every, single time.

Aloha Kalani, et al.:

Many feel as you do and wherever you go you'll find the same dynamics. Remember you are an essential make up of our Kingdom's citizens. The Conklinites like Rubelite Johnson, Thurston Twigg-Smith, William Burgess, Sloam, Zimmerman, Arakaki, Mossman, etc. will always be there to push the U.S. maniffest destiny doctrines. We should disspell U.S. myths and lies when they come up. The U.S. tactics are to frighten and demoralize people into compliance and we know that system doesn't work. I would be content to live my life quietly and enjoy my family and friends; loll about on the internet, feed my face of things I love, and go where I like whether the mountains or the ocean. But if don't take a stand and confront them, they will take over our lifestyle and pursuit of happiness and freedom. Many are doing what they can collectively or individually while combating the double-standard WASP racist system forced upon us. We know that the U.S. is made up of what it made up. It's not real; only a myth. There are many levels that it is assaulting us and we need to repel it on the different levels it fights us with. At the same time we need to embrace who we are and be proud of the accomplishments achieved by our kupuna. We are not asked to jump into bed with everyone (although that would be a trip in itself); but to have respect for those in the same boat whether we agree or not with them. It's bad enough outsiders diss us but coming from within is joining the outsiders. Sometimes we are more forgiving to strangers than to our familiars. Not good; it gets more blown up out of proportion.

Sometimes we get more iintense and too serious with each other because we expect more from each other. If this is the case; we need to lighten up and be able to laugh a bit and relax. One cannot maintain a balance if one gets too intense 24/7. We allow ourselves to vent for that reason and when done; it's pau and time to move forward. This doesn't mean we are letting our guard down but using a circuit-breaker to be able to continue with the energy we need to move forward.

If things fit; take it; if it doesn't; toss it. Everyone has their own way of expressing themselves and there's the rub. We try not to get hung up on little things, but once in a while something will trigger an emotion that others may not intepret the same way. If someone says something one doesn't like; say your piece and let it go. Allow that other person to put their foot in their mouth and give 'em the gas for that particular thing and then let it go. One can still love that person; but now that person knows what was offensive to the other. Next time we can be more mindful of it. We are not always right or always wrong; we're human and sometimes not the best in communication skills and nuances. Maybe parameters should be set in how to argue points or debates without name-calling, etc.

Something to ponder on:

DECLARATION OF RIGHTS (1839),
Both Of The People & Chiefs.

"God hath made of one blood all nations of men to dwell on the earth," in unity and blessedness. God has also bestowed certain rights alike on all men and all chiefs, and all people of all lands. These are some of the rights which He has given alike to every man and every chief of correct deportment; life, limb, liberty, freedom from oppression; the earnings of his hands and the productions of his mind, not however to those who act in violation of the laws.

God has also established government, and rule, for the purpose of peace; but in making laws for the nation it is by no means proper to enact laws for the protection of the rulers only, without also providing protection for their subjects; neither is it proper to enact laws to enrich the chiefs only, without regard to enriching their subjects also, and hereafter there shall by no means be any laws enacted which are at variance with what is above expressed, neither shall any tax be assessed, nor any service or labor required of any man, in a manner which is at variance with the above sentiments.

PROTECTION FOR THE PEOPLE DECLARED.

The above sentiments are hereby published for the purpose of protecting alike, both the people and the chiefs of all these islands, while they maintain a correct deportment; that no chief may be able to oppress any subject, but that chiefs and people may enjoy the same protection, under one and the same law.

Protection is hereby secured to the persons of all the people, together with their lands, their building lots, and all their property, while they conform to the laws of the kingdom, and nothing whatever shall be taken from any individual except by express provision of the laws. What ever chief shall act perseveringly in violation of this constitution, shall no longer remain a chief of the Hawaiian Islands, and the same shall be true of the Governors officers, and all land agents.

But if any one who is deposed should change his course and regulate his conduct by law, it shall then be in the power of the chiefs to reinstate him in the place he occupied previous to his being deposed.

This is good to review.
